Located in the middle of the Balkans, this small nation (ca. 26 000 km²) contains
a rich and diverse Orthoptera fauna. More than 170 taxa are currently reported from
the mountainous territory. Some species are associated with restricted habitats,
which are sensitive to environmental disturbances, such as wetlands, high-
A better knowledge of the status of these insects is required to identify gaps of knowledge and gaps of conservation activities, but also to develop management plans for their endangered habitats and protect the populations.
A RED list has been done
Saga pedo (Pallas, 1773) is here, at the limit of its distribution range in southern Galicica National Park (Republic of Macedonia), with a small extension on the southern, in the mountain of Triklario in Greece.
